Arcelor's plans an investment of €15 million and expects to employ 100 people in the initial stage of the project. Another 200 jobs should be created in firms involved in Arcelor's plan. The company wants to process 180,000 tonnes of steel.

The company projects that 30 percent of the production will be placed on the Slovak market, and the rest will be exported. Arcelor wants to double its production in the next three years.

Arcelor's customers include automotive firms and producers of home appliances, said the company's vice-president, Claude Charret.
