But the announced investment by Getrag Ford Transmissions at the Kechnec industrial park near Košice has shifted estimations about the importance of the automotive industry in Slovakia.

According to Mária Nováková of the Automotive Industry Association, automotive production could reach 50 percent of overall industrial output in Slovakia, employing about 100,000 people.
