According to the SME daily, the company has been seeking to expand into Central or Eastern Europe for a while. It recently bought Precision Parts Slovakia in Banská Bystrica following the bankruptcy of the firm's Swiss owner, Glatzfelder, at the beginning of 2004.

Burgmaier Metalltechnik plans to expand production at Precision Parts Slovakia and to increase the workforce from 15 to 100 people within two years, according to the investor's Bruno Schick.

This project will involve buying up an additional 80,000 to 100,000 square metres of land for the construction of a production facility equal in size to the company's factories in France and Germany.
