AUSTRIAN retail chain Baumax has announced plans to open two new outlets in Slovakia this year. The new stores are set to open in the western city of Trnava, and in the central city of Martin.
Central Europe has played a key part in Baumax's success. 44 of the company's 117 stores are in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia; the remainder are in Austria.
Overall turnover from foreign outlets increased 23.6 percent in 2001, to 305.42 million euros, giving the region a 37 per cent share of the group's aggregate turnover.
