Led by the United States government in partnership with 49 bi-national commissions worldwide, Fulbright offers unique international and cultural exchange programs.
Fulbright works with universities, foundations, non-governmental organizations and the private sector to award grants to the most promising applicants through open, merit-based competitions.
For more than 70 years, the Fulbright Program has given hundreds of thousands of passionate and accomplished students, scholars, teachers, artists, and professionals of all backgrounds and fields the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to important international problems.

FULBRIGHT SLOVAKIA OFFERS GRANTS FOR BOTH SLOVAK AND U.S. CITIZENS:
Fulbright U.S. Student Program / Fulbright Slovak Student Program is designed for U.S. / Slovak graduate students, young professionals and artists who want to study or conduct research for one academic year.
Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program / Fulbright Slovak Scholar Program is designed for U.S. / Slovak scholars with considerable academic experience who want to lecture and conduct research in a wide range of academic and professional fields. Fulbright Slovakia may assist candidates in identifying partner schools and academic and research institutions.
Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program assists U.S. higher education institutions in expanding programs of academic exchange by supporting non-U.S. scholars through grants for teaching at institutions that might not have a strong international component and/or serve minority audiences.
Fulbright Specialist Programis a unique opportunity for U.S. academics and established professionals to engage in two- to six-week-longproject-based exchanges at host institutions in Slovakia. Slovak institutions are welcome to submit a project requesting an individual specialist.
Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Programis a one-year non-degree graduate-level program designed for experienced mid-career professionals interested in strengthening their leadership skills and professional development through a mutual exchange of knowledge and understanding about issues of common concern.
The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program (ETA)as part of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers a great opportunity to spend a year in the heart of Europe enriching education and immersing oneself in Slovak culture and traditions.
The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program allows students and alumni of U.S. higher education institutions to come to Slovakia and teach the English language in high schools throughout the country. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. higher education institution as a minimum requirement.
Applications are welcome from graduating seniors and young professionals who are interested in teaching TESOL/Applied Linguistics, American studies, American literature, arts, political science and international education. Previous teaching experience is welcomed. Graduates in STEM sciences with teaching experience are also considered. Positions require approximately 15-18 hours of teaching per week.
The Fulbright Commission in the Slovak Republic shall decide on a placement of a grantee upon the interest of a Slovak secondary school to host an English Teaching Assistant selected through an open competition. The grantee carries out a program agreed upon with the host institution.
Besides teaching, ETAs have the opportunity to participate in various enrichment activities (Berlin Seminar organized by Fulbright Commission in Germany or Media Literacy Seminar), and engage in public diplomacy by delivering presentations, seminars, and workshops on U.S. higher education and culture across Slovakia.
