M.R. Štefánik Airport in Bratislava processed 353,714 passengers in the first quarter of this year, which was 19 percent more than a year ago, the TASR newswire learnt on April 10.

“The first quarter of the year with nearly 354,000 passengers was the third best in the airport’s history, and it’s also the highest number of passengers dealt with at the airport over the past ten years,” airport general director Jozef Pojedinec said, as quoted for TASR.

Pojedinec attributed this growth to regular international transport. “We processed 339 regular flights more than last year over the first three months of the year, with increasing interest mainly in, for example, connections to Skopje and Kiev,” Pojedinec added.

During the first three months of this year the airport in the Slovak capital also posted growth in the total number of flights, while air cargo transport swelled by 12 percent when compared to the same period last year.

The highest numbers of passengers travelled from Bratislava Airport to London, Dublin, Moscow and Milan.
