Bratislava Airport swings into profit

Airport Bratislava, the company that operates M R Štefánik Airport in Bratislava, has reported a net profit for the first half of 2006 of Sk39.7 million (€1.03 million). This contrasts with a loss of over Sk29 million recorded for the same period last year.

Airport Bratislava officials said that its EBIDTA (earnings before interest, depreciation, taxes and amortisation) increased in the first half of 2006 by 179 percent year-on-year to Sk152.8 million. Revenues for the first half of 2006 increased by 37.2 percent on the year to Sk457.6 million, the news wire TASR reported. Bratislava's airport handled 837,000 passengers in the first six months of this year, a 61-percent increase over the same period in 2005.
