THE BRATISLAVA city council on May 18 approved the sale of almost 47,000 square metres of valuable land on the banks of the Danube river to Ballymore Properties of Ireland for Sk555 million ($11.8 million) in a public tender.
The intended sale has drawn criticism because the deal will first go through a Slovak company called Real Spektrum Dunaj, on whose board of directors sits Peter Nemec, the former Slovak police corps president under the Vladimír Meeiar government.
