Petržalka, the most populated borough of Bratislava, has gotten a new roofed market place, Petržalská Tržnica. It is located in a reconstructed shopping centre of almost 5,000 square metres on Bratská Street. The new market place welcomed its first shoppers on Friday, April 6.
Here, visitors can find fresh vegetables, fruit, dairy and meat products direct from Slovak local producers as well as from abroad, a drugstore, a pharmacy, a pet shop, restaurants, a café, an antiquarian bookshop, a flower shop and a Kraj supermarket, part of the Terno retail chain.
“When choosing the vendors, we took into consideration whether the goods are supplied directly by producers from Slovakia as well as the attractiveness of the offered goods,” said Katarína Lešková, project manager of Petržalská Tržnice, as cited by the Sme daily. “Thus, the shoppers can find, along with Slovak vegetables and fruit, Slovak fruit wines and Slovak honey.”
The project by Terno was designed based on an extensive survey conducted in September 2016 and is in line with the concrete requirements of local citizens.
Terno invested a total of €2.9 million in the new market place. In its refurbished supermarket with the brand new Kraj concept it combines a traditional supermarket with a shop selling healthy products and another with local Slovak products.
Petržalská Tržnica is open daily between 7:00 and 21:00.
