Budget deficit 11.24 billion Sk seven months into 1999

The state budget deficit for 1999 hit 11.24 billion Slovak crowns at the end of July, up over 25% on the figure at this time last year. In the same period of 1998, the deficit totaled 8.94 billion crowns.

During the first seven months of this year, revenues were 103.88 billion crowns and expenditures totaled 115.12 billion crowns.

Revenues were about 300 billion crowns higher than last year, while expenditures rose 2.59 billion year-on-year.

The state budget for 1999 counts on revenues of 180 billion crowns, expenditures of 195 billion crowns, and a deficit of 15 billion. Adoption of a recent economic austerity package should bring an additional 17 billion crowns into state coffers.
