Bidders through to second round of ST privatisation

All three bidders, Telekom Austria (TA), Deutsche Telekom, and Dutch Telecom KPN, advanced to the second round of privatisation of the state's 51% stake in Slovak Telecom (ST) on March 27.
Deputy Telecom Minister Dušan Faktor said that an inter-ministerial commission had asked ST privatisation advisor Deutsche Bank to provide the final wording of the transaction documents as well as the course of the second round by April 30.
The Deputy Minister said he believed the best time for submission of the final bids would be after the approval of the new telecom law, hopefully some time in April.
The bids will be reviewed in May.

Harach asks for delay on SE privatisation plan

Economy Minister Ľubomír Harach has asked Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda to delay the submission of a proposal for the transformation and privatisation of the power sector until May, claiming that further discussions are needed on the proposal. Originally the concept draft was expected to be submitted in March.
The concept of the transformation and privatization of Slovakia's power sector will lay down the procedure by which energy utility Slovenské Elektrárne (SE) will be divided into several separate entities, the number of which is still under discussion.
The Economy Ministry was also due to submit a proposal for privatisation of the Slovenský Plynárensky Priemysel (SPP) gas distributor by the end of March.
