Businesses unaware of EU consequences

EVEN THOUGH Slovak businessmen have expressed positive feelings about their country's expected EU membership, many are underestimating the adjustments EU accession will require, said Peter Mihok of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK).

Mihok said: "[Eu entry] also influences the baker who will have to bake according to EU norms. Many small and mid-size businesses have to realise that from May 2004 they will have to respect other rules of the game, other norms than are effective now."
