POLICE statistics reported 34,036 registrations of new cars and small commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in Slovakia during the first half of 2005. This represents a 5.4 percent increase year-on-year, the Automotive Industry Association (ZAP) announced.
Czech firm Škoda remained the best-selling carmaker in Slovakia. Official importers sold 9,625 passenger and small utility vehicles under 3.5 tonnes in Slovakia during the first half of the year. Thus Škoda maintains a high market share of 28.28 percent in Slovakia, the SITA news agency wrote.
Three French car brands followed - Peugeot was second with a 7.37 percent market share, followed by Renault with 6.9 percent and Citroen with 6.48.
Volkswagen had 5.68 percent of the market and Opel was next with 5.25 percent, followed by Suzuki with 4.43 percent.
