THE NATIONAL Bank of Slovakia (NBS) showed a cumulative loss of Sk18.2 billion (€460 million) as of October 31. According to NBS spokesman Igor Barát, the exchange rate development of the Slovak crown towards the euro and the U.S. dollar significantly influences the financial results of the central bank.
The Slovak crown has appreciated by 2.97 percent towards the euro and by 4.66 percent towards the US dollar since the beginning of the year.
According to the SITA news agency, the NBS recorded a loss of Sk4.8 billion (€120 million) for October this year.
