The station's expected capacity could be as much as 400 megawatts (MW).

"We will know the plant's final capacity, as well as the type of fuel that it will use, from the feasibility study, which should be ready by the end of June 2008," ČEZ spokesperson Eva Nováková told the SITA newswire.

ČEZ signed a similar agreement with the Hungarian-based MOL company at the end of last year. The companies have agreed to a joint venture that will construct two new gas power stations - one at the refinery in Százhalombatta, Hungary and another at the Slovnaft refinery in Bratislava. The planned capacity of each is 800 MWs. They should go into operation by 2013 or 2014.

The joint venture will also finance the reconstruction of a power station at Slovnaft and increase its capacity to 160 MWs.
