RUSSIAN holidaymakers were most interested in camps for children and youths during this year’s summer season. The Economy Ministry told the SITA newswire that Slovak spas and combined trips to Slovakia, Austria and Hungary were also quite popular among Russian visitors.
“In spite of a general moderate decrease in the travelling interest of Russian tourists, it is possible to positively evaluate the summer season in Slovakia from the viewpoint of visits by Russian tourists,” the ministry wrote.
According to Ľubica Alušicová, a representative of the Slovak Tourist Board (SACR) in Moscow, the success rate of the upcoming winter season in Slovakia will depend on the ability of Slovak businesses to sign agreements with Russian tour operators as soon as possible.
“SACR will organise info-trips for Russian tour operators to Slovakia in late September,” said Alušicová. “They will focus on ski resorts and spas. Slovak businesses will be able to negotiate directly with the Russian tour operators.”
