Chinese interested in Slovak PPP

THE CHINESE company Shanghai Construction Group (SCG) is interested in expanding its business activities in Slovakia. The Slovak Economy Ministry said on March 22 that the company is interested in building highways in Slovakia through public-private partnership projects and is able to secure the necessary financial capital, the SITA newswire reported.

Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek held talks with representatives of the company with 40-year experience in the construction sector, and told them that Slovakia's door is open for investors; while the country creates suitable conditions for their business activities in the construction sector.

Jahnátek said that the government’s program features wide development of the highway network. He admitted, however, that the current economic crisis has negatively impacted the plan.
