Eleven months into 1998, the state had collected 141.6 billion Sk in taxes, which represents a shortfall of 3.85% (5.7 billion Sk), reported the Central Tax Office on December 16. The greatest shortfall is reported in corporate income tax, with only 22.5 billion Sk collected, a mere 88.39% of the projected figure. Tax Office director Júlia Marčeková said that the shortfall had been caused by lower actual tax duties in corporate income tax. In comparison with the same period of 1997, corporate income tax collection went up 2.1 billion SKK.
