Currency reserves at '97 high

Total foreign currency reserves in Slovakia were $6.949 billion as of September 3, the highest figure for 1997, according to the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS).

Central bank reserves stood at $3.189 billion ($284 million less than at the beginning of this year); of that amount, commercial banks held $3.761 billion (a $1.548 increase compared with the beginning of 1997).
