Daily Mail buys Slovak server profesia.sk

IN WHAT was described as the biggest deal in Slovak Internet history, the British Daily Mail and General Trust media group bought Slovakia's most popular job server, profesia.sk, the Trend weekly reported.

The value of the deal was not disclosed. According to Trend, however, the Slovak-American Enterprise Fund, which owned a two-thirds stake in profesia.sk, gained over Sk100 million (€2.5 million) from the deal. The other owner, IT firm ui42, which launched profesia.sk in 1997, profited from the sale as well.

Profesia.sk recorded a turnover of €1.1 million (Sk43 million) last year, almost twice as much as in 2003.
