US COMPUTER giant Dell has announced plans to open a central European call centre in Bratislava, with the cooperation of the Slovak Agency for Development of Investment and Trade (Sario).
Set for a December launch, the call centre will likely employ 120 workers and provide services primarily to the German market, where Dell is planning to increase its market share to 11 per cent in the next three years.
While Dell officials have declined to state their total investments in the centre, Sario director Artur Bobovnický has described the project as the largest sum invested in IT in Slovakia since 1997.
Based in Austin, Texas, Dell is a leader in low-cost computers and information services. The company employs 36,000 people worldwide and revenues last year topped $32 billion.
