Dexia administers emissions gas register

SLOVAKIA's national register of greenhouse gas emission quotas has been functioning since January, Environment Minister László Miklós said on February 17.

The European Commission must certify the national registers of individual countries by May 2005, the minister added.In Slovakia, Dexia bank was chosen in a tender to administer the greenhouse gas register. However, the bank has not yet settled the issue of payments for maintaining the accounts of emission gas producers, the TASR news agency wrote.

According to Dexia bank's Gernot Daumann, the Slovak software for the national register is compatible with the systems of EU member states, all of which are taking part in emissions trading.
