The Agrofert Company belonging to the Slovak-born Czech Finance Minister Andrej Babiš is going to invest €310 million into building a plant for ammoniac production while the state supports it with tax relief of €58 million.
The project may not guarantee an increase in jobs as originally expected, but Duslo Šaľa has promised the Slovak government not to reduce the number of employees to under 1,800 for the next 10 years. The trial operation is slated to begin in late 2017.
The production of ammoniac will increase from 1,300 tonnes to 1,600 tonnes which is almost a 20-percent increase.
“If we decided to reconstruct the old plant instead of constructing new one we would have to invest €232 million and still we would have outdated production,” the General Director of Duslo Petr Bláha said, as quoted by TASR.
