THE REGULATORY Office for Network Industries (ÚRSO) has addressed 50 motions pertaining to alleged fraud over construction of photovoltaic power plants. Because of a shortfall in the electricity produced by these solar power plants, the price of electricity could decrease as of January, the SITA newswire reported. Electricity generated by other means is considerably cheaper than solar power.
ÚRSO launched checks at 404 solar power plants. While its investigations have ended at 286 facilities, 118 are still being reviewed.
Because of misinformation or lies told about the power plants, the volume of electricity they produce will not reach the proposed 478 megawatts. “It [production of electricity] is 25 percent lower,” said an ÚRSO representative, as quoted by SITA.
Lower amounts of power generated by photovoltaic plants could lower the final price for electricity paid by end-users. ÚRSO predicts that prices paid by domestic customers could fall significantly.
