THE SLOVAK Investment and Trade Development Agency is currently holding talks with several foreign investors from the electro technical industry who plan to invest around €60 million (Sk2.4 billion) in Slovakia.
Agency spokesman Ondrej Žember told the state-run news agency TASR on August 23 that four or five projects are planned to be carried out near the eastern Slovak city Spišská Nová Ves in the Košice region and in Bratislava.
Most of the potential investors come from Europe. "One of them is already operating in Slovakia," the spokesman said.
According to Žember, the investments are estimated to create between 1,200 and 1,500 new jobs and their completion is expected by the end of this year.
In addition, the trade agency has registered some more projects involving foreign investors from the chemical and electronics sector, expected to create a total of up to 2,200 new jobs in the eastern and western Slovak regions, Žember added.
