A group of 13 business organisations and chambers of commerce put together 20 recommendations for politicians in Slovakia in mid-November (source: Sme)
Employment rose year-on-year in several industrial sectors including selected market services (by 7 percent) and the sale and repair of motor vehicles (4.7 percent) in June 2016, the Slovak Statistical Office (ŠÚSR) informed the TASR newswire on August 11.
ŠÚSR recorded also annual increases in information and communication activities by 4.3 percent, in industry by 3.3 percent, in transport and warehousing by 2.4 percent, in construction by 1.9 percent and in accommodation services by 0.5 percent. Conversely, the number of employed people dropped in wholesale by 4.5 percent, in restaurants and pubs by 1.2 percent and in retail by 0.9 percent.
Meanwhile, average employment rates for the first six months of 2016 increased in information and communications by 4.9 percent y-o-y, in selected market services by 4.8 percent, in industry by 3.5 percent, in accommodation services by 2.1 percent, in the sale and repair of motor vehicles by 2 percent, in construction by 1.8 percent and in restaurants and pubs by 0.7 percent.
During the same period, employment declined in sectors like wholesale (5.1 percent), transport and warehousing (1.7 percent) and retail (1.1 percent), TASR wrote.
