ALTHOUGH the privatization of the 66-percent stake in Slovakia's state-owned electricity utility Slovenské elektrárne (SE) will not be completed by the end of 2005, its future owner, Italian company Enel, is not worried about the delay.

According to Marco Arcelli, Enel's area manager for Slovakia, "Enel would like the contract to be signed and sealed as soon as possible. The date Enel is aiming for is February," the TASR news agency reported.

The sale of SE has been delayed, especially due to a bill on the back-fuel cycle submitted by the Economy Ministry.

Another condition still to be met is the transfer of certain SE assets that are not part of the privatized package to state company GovCo, as well as the operational transfer of the Gabčíkovo hydro-electric facility to the state-owned concern, Vodohospodárska výstavba.
