THE PRICE OF electricity for households is expected to increase by an average of 2.41 percent in 2005.
Western Slovak energy distributor ZSE will keep prices the same for its clients, but Central Slovakia’s distributor, SSE, will increase prices by 4.89 percent, and Eastern Slovakia’s VSE will raise prices by 2.52 percent. The rate hikes have been approved by the Slovak regulatory authority.
The 2005 price hikes are the most moderate in recent years. Analysts credit the deregulation of the energy market for keeping increases down.
Prices for wholesale customers, such as large companies, are expected to fall next year, in some cases by as much as 12.85 percent.
