EuroTel Ltd., a mobile telephone network operator and supplier located in Bratislava, will be transformed into a joint stock company, with 60 percent to be held by Slovak Telecom and 40 percent by the Atlantic West consortium of US West Media Group and Bell Atlantic, according to an agreement the two partners signed on November 22. Until the agreement, 49 percent in EuroTel was held by the American partner. The rearranging of EuroTel's ownership structure was one of the conditions for the firm to obtain a license to operate the GSM mobile phone network. EuroTel will begin providing GSM services in March, 1997 at the latest, company officials said. The main supplier of the GSM network infrastructure and voice mail will be the Swedish company Ericsson.
