T-MOBILE Slovensko is launching the Fast Internet service, based on the revolutionary wireless technology FLASH-OFDM, enabling mobile Internet connection at a speed of up to 1 Mbps. It is a rate 10 times higher than a regular mobile connection. Given the high speed and extremely low transmission delay, the fast internet service is fully comparable with fixed high-speed data services.
The company is the world's first national mobile operator to bring the FLASH-OFDM technology to its customers. The new technology also delivers coverage to smaller municipalities, in which no alternative broadband Internet has been viable so far.
Fast Internet is available in 20 cities and their vicinities, and in dozens of villages. T-Mobile provides the coverage using the FLASH-OFDM signal. By the end of 2005, the company wants to extend the coverage to a further five cities.
The Fast Internet service is provided through wireless technology FLASH-OFDM using the 450 MHz frequency. This frequency band facilitates wireless coverage even over barriers such as landscape unevenness, buildings and walls. Moreover, the technology also enables communication even if a signal is low.
The FLASH-OFDM technology supports transmission rates up to 1 Mps in the case of a single user; depending upon the signal intensity at the point of connection and on the number of users in the given location.
T-Mobile offers two terminal equipment types to the customers enabling use of the Fast Internet service. The modem is designed for desktops, with a simple connection using a single cable. The customer can decide to use a USB or Ethernet-type cable and after plugging in he/she can start browsing immediately, without any subsequent installation steps.
Customers who use the Fast Internet service with their notebook will benefit from Data Card. After a simple installation using an attached CD and plugging the card in the respective notebook slot, the customer can immediately start using all the benefits of a fast mobile connection.
Currently, it is possible to activate the Fast Internet service in Banská Bystrica, Bratislava, Galanta, Hlohovec, Košice, Modra, Nitra, Nové Zámky, Pezinok, Prešov, Rajecké Teplice, Senec, Sereď, Sládkovičovo, Šaľa, Šurany, Trnava, Zvolen or Žilina.
