FDI falls to $1.2 billion in 2001

SLOVAKIA in 2001 attracted Sk57.3 billion ($1.19 billion) in direct foreign investment, down from the over Sk2 billion taken in 2000, according to preliminary data from the central bank. Most of the inflow went into privatisation sales.

Over 85 per cent of the money went to Bratislava region, which traditionally attracts the most investment because of more developed infrastructure.
