Fighting over fighters

THE CZECH Republic will pay Kč20.3 billion (€622 million) to lease 14 new Jas-39 fighters from Sweden for 10 years, according to a government report obtained by the Czech News Agency. The contract, however, will not be finalised until May 31 and the countries are still haggling over the amount the Czech Republic will receive in reverse investment offsets, which it had hoped would total €774 million.
