THE FITCH ratings agency has left Slovakia at speculative grade despite the country's having been earlier raised to investment by the Moodys's and S&P agencies. Fitch cited rising current and fiscal deficits for its decision, warning that the deficits were approaching a severity seen from 1997-1998, when the Slovak economy "went through a mini-crisis".
