POWER utility Slovenské Elektrárne (SE) has concluded additional contracts to complete construction of the third and fourth units of the Mochovce nuclear power plant (EMO). At the end of 2009, SE concluded four contracts worth €15.3 million, according to the Public Procurement Bulletin, the SITA newswire reported.
SE signed contracts with Siemens to supply and install a raw water treatment system and supply chemicals, with ČKD Praha DIZ to supply and install a water cooling station, with VÚJE to provide training to new Mochovce employees, and with Fumagalli, which is contracted to deliver fixtures to be installed in the non-nuclear section of EMO.
Work to complete EMO was officially launched on November 3, 2008. The two units are to be finished by 2012 and 2013 respectively. The third unit should be connected to the power grid in the autumn of 2012 and the fourth unit eight months later, in 2013. The units will have an output of 880 megawatts.
The Italian firm Enel holds a 66-percent stake in SE, with the remaining portion in the hands of the state. Enel bought its stake in SE in April 2006.
