THE TOWN of Gelnica has won one of the categories of the second year of the national Green for the Town competition, thereby becoming one of the most environmentally friendly Slovak towns in the country.
The aim of the competition, supported by the mobile operator Orange, is to contribute to the protection of the environment across Slovakia and to simultaneously improve the environment in Slovak towns, the SITA newswire reported.
Gelnica won in the category of towns consisting of up to 15,000 citizens and obtained a reward of €3,300 which it can use for planting vegetation.
