GETRAG Ford Transmissions (GFT), the German auto parts supplier, will start the construction of its automatic transmissions plant in Kechnec near Košice in June, the SITA news agency wrote.
The planned investment is €345 million.
"Test production will be launched in the fall of 2006 and the company will export its first products manufactured in Slovakia in January 2007," said Tobias Hagenmeyer from GFT.
The plant is a greenfield investment with annual output estimated at 200,000 transmissions, said Hagenmeyer. He added that the company wants to hire about 750 people for the Kechnec plant.
