As early as in 2007, it was involved in establishment of the Dorka crisis centre in Košice, and it belongs among long-time partners of the company Úsmev ako dar (Smile as a Gift). Recently, the mutual cooperation has focused mainly on the programme of aiding the women in need.
“Through our activities, we try to boost the position of women in society,” Thomas Hejcman, CEO of VSE Holding, said. “And even a bigger support and help is needed by women who are on the brink of existence, due to illness, violence or lacking family background. Thus, the initiative Help for Women in Distress is very important to me. I am convinced that it is exactly systemic work and support for professional and personal growth of these women with difficult fate that are crucial for their re-start and early recovery with returning back to normal life.”

The project is aimed at helping girls growing up in children’s homes after they leave them, as well as mothers with children in critical life situations, and also to support female victims of violence who found their shelter in these crisis centres.
