Gov't-NBS discussing easing monetary policy

Finance Minister Sergej Kozlik said the government and the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) were in discussions on whether the central bank should not follow its Czech counterpart and ease its monetary policy.

NBS Governor Vladimir Masar said the bank was not planning to soften its policy but added that it might do so if foreign trade shows positive development, or if funds accumulated by import deposits drain liquidity from the market and are held by the NBS.
