GREEKS make up the biggest foreign group of students at the Pharmaceutical Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava. Out of the total number of students enrolled in these programmes, 1,383, they make up about one quarter. The Greek students attend a five-year master’s degree pharmacy programme in English and pay for their studies, the TASR newswire reported.
“Students from other countries, including Greeks, also studied pharmacy in Slovakia in the past, but free of charge and in Slovak,” Ján Kyselovič, dean of the faculty told TASR, adding that the faculty has been running its English-language programme for more than 10 years. One year of study currently costs a foreign student €7,500.
In Greece there are only two pharmaceutical faculties, which are not able to satisfy the high demand of students. After graduating from the university most Greek pharmacists return home to work, often in family-run pharmacies.
