THE DIRECTOR of the Zvolenská Teplárenská heating company, Juraj Králik, nominated by the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party, will be summarily sacked, SaS chairman Richard Sulík told the media on January 25.
Sulík’s action came after questions about previous decisions by the director in a similar post were raised by Prime Minister Iveta Radičová, the TASR newswire reported.
Radičová stated that Králik had worked in 2008 as the director of the Žilinská Teplárenská heating company, was nominated to that post by the Slovak National Party (SNS), and that during his tenure a sale of excess emissions quotas “cost the state more than €800,000”.
The Sme daily also wrote that Žilinská Teplárenská was in the portfolio of state-owned companies controlled by SNS, with the wife of Milan Vendrinský, a businessman linked to SNS chairman Ján Slota, sitting on the board of directors and Alžbeta Porubcová, Slota’s daughter, serving as a member of the company’s supervisory board.
Králik was nominated by SaS to be the director of Zvolenská Teplárenská after the new government was formed following the 2010 parliamentary elections.
