The Council of Ministers of the Economic Portfolio has recommended that the government increase gas prices for households by 80%. The council has also recommends a mechanism for further price modifications in the future.
If approved, the price increase should take effect on June 1, Economy Minister Ľudovít Černák told a news conference.
Five tariff brackets will be introduced instead of the current three, which differentiate whether a household uses gas for cooking, water heating, or heating. The SPP (gas distributor) will invest the money from the price increase into the accelerated introduction of gas in poorer municipalities.
