A vote of non-confidence in Economy Minister Ľudovít Černák, which had been initiaed by the opposition HZDS party, was scheduled by parliamentary speaker Jozef Migaš for September 28.
HZDS deputy Jozef Brhel said the party had initiated the vote because the minister's conduct does not conform with the government's programme statement it presented to parliament last November.
Černák has recently been involved in several scandals, including a snap privatisation of Priemyselna Banka, the country's seventh largest bank, and a decision to award a contract to settle Russia's outstanding debt to Slovakia to the controversial Devín Banka.
Even though several government factions have said they support Černák's recall, the HZDS motion is unlikely to win the support of government deputies, who say they want to decide Černák's fate themselves.
