In June Slovakia's industrial output dipped 3.9% from the same month last year. This development is the result of a 7% decrease in manufacturing output, a 13.5% increase in production and distribution of power, water and gas, and a 4.1% growth in raw materials extraction. The most significant drop was reported in textiles and clothing production. June sales of the industrial sector, however, hit 57.9 billion Slovak crowns ($1.3 billion), up 3.2% from June 1998.
Industrial output during the first half of this year was 7.9% down from the same period last year, according to the Slovak Statistics Bureau. Six months into 1999, industrial sector sales were 3.4% higher than in the same period last year.
