Almost all the branches of industry failed to reach their output level from the average month of 1998, except pulp and paper production, publishing and press, coke and refined crude-oil products, and transport facilities production.

April sales of the industrial sector accounted for 52.6 billion crowns, up 0.5% y/y. The growth reflects increase in revenues from industrial production (0.5%), the production and distribution of electricity, gas and water (6.5%), and decrease in revenues in raw materials extraction (20.9%). Four months into 1999 sales of the industrial sector were 2.9% higher than in the same period last year.
