THE INFLATION rate in Slovakia in March was unchanged from February, remaining at the level of 3.8 percent year-on-year. Consumer prices rose by 0.3 percent month-on-month, the SITA newswire reported.
In annual terms, prices increased the most in transport, by 8.3 percent. The second highest increase was registered in the education sector, which rose by 5.8 percent, followed by alcoholic beverages and tobacco, with an increase of 5 percent and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, all of which increased by 4.5 percent. Miscellaneous goods and services rose by 4.1 percent.
The prices of postal and telecommunication services fell by 0.2 percent.
The Statistics Office also published data on EU-harmonised inflation, which was 3.9 percent year-on-year in March, a drop of 0.1 percentage points compared to February, the TASR newswire reported.
