FOREIGN investors are increasingly interested in the industrial park in Levice, mayor Štefan Mišák said.
Swedish company Nefab Packaging, the first local investor, is due to start production of wooden packaging for the electronic engineering and automotive industries in June 2005. It is planning to create 100 factory-floor jobs and 20 management positions.
India's Steel Strips Wheels is in the final stages of talks on a contract to manufacture steel wheels in Levice, said Mišák, but did not say when operations would start. The building of the plant, worth some Sk450 million (€11.5 million) is slate 2005. It will initially employ 90 staff, which will in time increase to 300.
Globo Eastern Europe recently signed a letter of intent to assemble and import lighting equipment and plans on employing some 70 staff.
Hopes are however pinned on an unnamed Korean auto firm whose representatives are said to have held talks with the Economy Ministry and City officials to invest over half a billion dollars in the region. The firm has yet to make a decision between Poland, Hungary and Slovakia.
