The car manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover, announced its aim to build a Slovak production plant in August 2015. At the end of the same year the Slovak government contract was signed with the car-maker's representatives.
The factory will stand near Nitra, where the state has begun to build an industrial area. The official construction works started in September 2016.

Jaguar is planning to spend 1.4 billion dollars on investments and in the first phase wants to employ about 2,800 people. The car factory plans to produce 150,000 cars yearly, with the first car rolling off the production lines by the second half of 2018.
