THE UNEMPLOYMENT rate fell for the sixth month in a row in July to 17.6 per cent, 34 basis points below what it was one year ago. Some 476,500 people were without work, down 9,000 from the previous month.
The development was due to the record low number of university graduates - 6,000 - entering the bread lines that month, and to the creation of new jobs, the most seen in July since 1997.
Enormous differences in unemployment rates continued around the country, with Rimavská Sobota district recording over 37 per cent and Bratislava III district about 3.5 per cent.
The July figure represented a four percentage point fall from February's record 21.6 per cent.
