In August labour offices registered 384,200 people as unemployed. If the jobless rate were to include people who are not immediately available for work, such as those on sick-leave or living abroad, the figure would have reached 14.4 percent, or 0.08 percentage points less than in June.

The highest unemployment rate, 19.13 percent, was reported in Banská Bystrica Region, while in Bratislava Region, which traditionally has the lowest number of jobless people, only 5.42 percent of people were recorded as unemployed.
