THE UNEMPLOYMENT rate in Slovakia grew to 13.76 percent in February, an increase of 0.07 percentage points month-on-month, according to data presented by the Statistics Office. Compared to February 2011, the number of unemployed people was up by 0.6 percentage points. The total number of people registered as unemployed at labour offices was 411,801 in February, the SITA newswire reported.
The unemployment rates increased in six of Slovakia’s eight regions. The most significant rises were in Nitra Region (by 0.21 percentage points), in Prešov Region (by 0.13 percentage points) and in Trnava Region (by 0.1 percent point).
The jobless rates dropped in Trenčín and Bratislava Regions by 0.04 percentage points in February.
